GOOSTREY residents raised more than £360 for a Cheshire children’s charity.

Dorothy and Gordon Saxton hosted a coffee morning at their house in Harrison Drive, complete with an array of cakes, biscuits and hot drinks as well as a bring and buy sale.

The event was held in aid of The Joshua Tree, which aims to build a holiday home in Sandiway for children suffering from life-threatening illnesses to enjoy free short breaks with their families.

Dorothy, an editorial assistant at the Knutsford Guardian, said: “It was extremely successful and well worth all the hard work.

“Thank you very much to everyone who donated items and money for the event, including my colleagues at the Guardian.

“It was much more successful than I expected – I thought we would raise £100, and we raised £366.66.”

Dorothy and Gordon were assisted by Dorothy’s sister Sue Tait, who travelled from Brighton to help out and enjoy the fun.

So far, coffee mornings have raised £2,100 for The Joshua Tree and there is still time to join the February coffee morning campaign.
