AN estate company has called on the future of the 27 bus to be secured after describing it as the ‘lifeblood’ of the community.

Henry Brooks, from Tatton Estate Management, said: “While we appreciate budgets are tight, the 27A bus service is the lifeblood of the rural community of Peover and Chelford.

“It was originally suggested the community services were to be cut in the mornings and late afternoons, and now we learn that the services during the day are to be cut, too.

“We alone have at least one member of the team who uses the service daily, and if the service is cancelled, he will not be able to get into work as a result.

“The ability to get to and from work and school is key to sustainable communities. Other groups most in need of such a service are the elderly, who use the bus to visit the doctors, medical centres, shops and post office. Now they are also under threat.

“We urge Cheshire East Council to fight hard to maintain this essential service for the workers, children, students, elderly and others who are dependent upon it.”
