A COMEDY band who can count Jason Manford among their fans are to perform an intimate gig in Knutsford.
The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican will be taking to the stage for a weird and wonderful night at Brook Street Club – the home of Lol Cheshire – on Saturday, June 9.
Formed in 2006, the group are dubbed ‘Yorkshire’s hardest working comedy band’.
Named after the late Irish easy listening singer Val Doonican, the band’s mission is to keep their late, great spiritual father’s legacy alive through novelty songs.
After 12 years, they now have almost 900 shows under their belts while their surreal history of ‘Doonimania’ gives concert goers an idea what to expect.
Estranged brothers Scott and Danny Doonican met by chance for the first time on-board a mobile library, while both trying to research the origins of their family tree.
Little did they know that a revelation would lead them along the righteous garden path towards making their mark on the world of music and (very) light entertainment.
